James Milner believes Manchester City’s Premier League success can only benefit him and the other players from Eastlands as they prepare for the European Championships next month.

The former Leeds United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa midfielder was an important figure in City’s domestic success this season and despite a new manager coming in to fill the England role, in the form of Roy Hodgson, Milner has deservedly earned a place in the Three Lions squad.

Of course in sport it’s important that winning becomes a habit and the fact that City and their rivals Manchester United enjoyed plenty of victories this term, with only goal difference separating the two teams, must be a positive for England heading into the Euros in Poland and the Ukraine. It is certainly something writers producing soccer betting tips have taken note of, with England seen as dark horses for the tournament.

With the likes of Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, John Terry and Gary Cahill enjoying success in the Champions League with Chelsea and Milner, Joleon Lescott, Joe Hart, Gareth Barry and Adam Johnson winning the league with City it can only be good for the national side.

Milner revealed in a press conference: “Our players are going into the tournament on a high and high on confidence and that’s what you want.

“You want to get into those habits of winning trophies and that winning mentality and if players have had the taste and had a good season it’s only a good thing for us as a team.”

The European Championships are edging ever closer and with the winning mentality flowing through some of the England squad, punters who bet on soccer games will be hoping that the Three Lions will be hoping to cause an upset at the major tournament this summer.
